What do the latest changes to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) mean for you?
At the end of December 2023 the NPPF was updated meaning yet another rebrand for exception clauses Paragraph 80 and Paragraph 134.
Paragraph 80 is now Paragraph 84, and Paragraph 134 is now Paragraph 139.
The good news for you (and for us!) is that there are no changes to the wording or content of either clause.
Paragraph 84 (previously Paragraph 80) is for you if you want to build a new isolated home in the countryside. Find out about Paragraph 84 here.
Paragraph 139 (previously Paragraph 134) has a growing role to play in supporting new sustainable homes within the countryside. Find out about Paragraph 139 here.
Studio Bark gained its first Paragraph 84 (then Paragraph 55) approval in 2013 with a project called Periscope House. Aired on Channel 4’s Grand Designs, it led to a number of enquiries from people with plots in the countryside and we’ve had a steady stream of jobs and planning approvals ever since. Since that first approval, we’ve learned a lot about what Paragraph 84 (formerly Paragraph 80) strives for and we pride ourselves on being able to deliver the level of quality required.
